Hi all,

As you may know, the tentative agreement that the university has negotiated
with the union provides a $350k fund for childcare subsidies (see here
<http://harvardgradunion.org/contract-summary/#Family-Friendly-Policies-and-Benefits>).
I've been contacted by the union about getting more information on the
extent to which student parents currently use/are likely to use a nanny or
babysitter as their primary form of childcare this upcoming year. Under the
current tentative agreement, the plan is to limit the disbursement of
childcare subsidies to those using licensed childcare providers, but given
the situation with childcare right now and for the foreseeable future, the
union is going to try to talk to the administration about an adjustment to
this policy. If this is an issue you care about, please let me know and I
will connect you with the graduate student who is working on it.
