The Starting Early, Starting Right Act would improve the quality, availability, and affordability of child care.

Take Action
Dear MomsRising.org member,

It's not long after babies take their first, exuberant steps that we begin wondering how to best prepare them for the next milestone: School. Getting kids ready for school takes high quality child care and early education experiences, but we all know that these are difficult to find, and often times very expensive. Many parents encounter long waiting lists for quality centers, monthly costs that can exceed rent or mortgage payments, and other hurdles when trying to find the best option for their children.

The inaccessibility and expense of child care and early education is a national problem, which calls for a national solution.

Today, we have a great chance to move good child care policy forward: The Starting Early, Starting Right Act would improve the quality and availability of child care and significantly increase funding to help families pay for child care. But, this bill needs co-sponsors to gain momentum. When Senators co-sponsor a bill, they show their public support, which provides the momentum that will ultimately carry the bill through the Senate.

Ask your Senators to co-sponsor the Starting Early, Starting Right Act today! http://www.momsrising.org/StartingRightAct

*After you email your Senators, forward this email to your friends, other parents, grandparents, colleagues, and others who can help show the strong support for child care availability and funding!

The Starting Early, Starting Right Act, introduced by Senator Robert Casey (D - Pa.), recognizes that child care develops America's potential and is a powerful statement about the importance of investing in care for our children, our families, and our future as a nation.

This Act will provide funds for states to expand families' access to high quality child care, emphasizing training for child care providers and the regular monitoring of child care programs as well as additional support to help low-income working families pay for child care. The bill also re-establishes a federal-level focus on child care by creating an Office of Child Care in the Administration for Children and Families.

Tell Senators the Starting Early, Starting Right Act is important to you!: http://www.momsrising.org/StartingRightAct

High quality child care helps children develop the skills they need to be ready for school and life. Studies show that early investments in children pay off in the long-term, saving significant funds due to fewer later grade repetitions, less interactions with the criminal justice system, and fewer future interactions with government entitlement programs. Helping kids early is the right thing to do for kids and for the economy.

We thank you for taking action, our kids thank you!

Dana Glazer a fantastic dad and MomsRising.org/FamiliesRising.org blogger has just released his trailer for The Evolution of Dad, a documentary which will be released next year. The trailer is only 3 minutes long, and it's really powerful. Check it out and send it on to your favorite Dad. http://www.momsrising.org/node/906
