Dear DeAnna,

For your school age children, you should also investigate afterschool
options at your kids' school. Cambridge public schools run extensive
options, with different clubs different days of the week that would have
your kids interacting with their classmates and doing new stuff -- an
alternative to a nanny which may also be less expensive. And if you
are planning to send your kids to school in Cambridge, I hope you have
been investigating options -- the school choice system in Cambridge
requires a lot of parental work, and your lottery choices are influenced
by where you live -- i.e., there is some preference for those living
close to a school. If you haven't made your plans yet, this list may be
able to give you some help sorting through the elementary school
options, which are all quite different.

Good luck,

mom to Lucy, age 11 and Clarissa, age 8
