About
The Astro list is organized by the Director of Undergraduates Studies in Astrophysics. It is intended for Harvard undergraduates interested in astrophysics, including students pursuing or considering the concentration or secondary field in astrophysics, and students not pursuing these but interested in astrophysics courses, research opportunities, and events.
Posts include notices of the monthly pizza seminars organized by the Department of Astronomy, as well as notices for other Boston-area astronomy-related talks, research opportunities in astrophysics (both at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and elsewhere), observing campaigns using the Science Center telescopes, opportunities for astronomy-related travel, and discussion of courses offered by the Department of Astronomy.
This list is distinct from STAHR, which is a student-run organization that provides opportunities for Harvard students to learn more about astronomy and to enjoy looking at the night sky, and which trains students to use the Science Center Loomis-Michael telescope. Many students subscribe to both the Astro and STAHR lists.
