About
Welcome to the Harvard Taiwanese Cultural Society's Mailing List!
The Harvard Taiwanese Cultural Society of Harvard College is a student-run student organization dedicated to promoting the culture and heritage of Taiwan and Taiwanese-Americans. TCS sponsors a wide variety of on-campus activities designed to increase awareness of Taiwanese culture and Taiwanese-American issues on the Harvard campus. Our goal is to provide forums of education, discussion, and cultural exchange for all who are interested in learning about Taiwan.
Our events range from cultural to educational to social and encompass a wide spectrum of activities including cooking workshops, an annual commemoration of the 2-28 Incident, discussions on Taiwan's international situation, seminars with guest lecturers and speakers, and intercollegiate tea and karaoke nights. Regular events include weekly Taiwanese Tables which provide opportunities to learn and practice speaking Taiwanese and also monthly dim-sum brunch runs into Boston. Each February, over 300 people attend our annual Winterfest, an evening of Taiwanese food, exhibits, workshops, and Taipei night market festivities.
TCS also participates in occasional athletic competitions with other student groups such as MIT's Association of Taiwanese Students, the Harvard Chinese Students Association, and the Harvard Society of Physics Students in such sports as volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and soccer.
In the year to come, we not only want to educate you, but also to inspire and to motivate you to reach beyond your personal and societal boundaries and become a part of the Harvard community and the greater global community. TCS is a family, perhaps your family away from home, and even the tightest-knit group of students at Harvard.
